At 170hp, the S 1000 R’s engine makes the same power as the S 1000 XR now and is an increase of 5hp.
The S 1000 R also gets a quick throttle and shorter final gearing for snappier acceleration.
Engine Drag Control is now standard on the S 1000 R, which minimizes rear wheel lock-ups under aggressive downshifts.
The updated M 1000 R remains mechanically identical to the older bike, but gets the same quick throttle as the S, and its winglets are now painted black.
Both bikes are expected to come to India next year, with a price hike.
