Tesla will commence deliveries of its redesigned Model Y SUV in the United States starting in March, as per new information available on the company’s official website.

The Model Y Juniper is priced at $59,990, excluding a federal tax credit of $7,500 for new electric vehicle purchases. According to Tesla’s website, this updated version features a revamped exterior with redesigned front and rear light bars, and an upgraded interior that includes ventilated seats, reclining second-row seats, and faster Wi-Fi connectivity.

Tesla has begun accepting orders for the new Model Y variant from customers in Canada and Europe as of Thursday, with sales in China having started approximately two weeks ago. CEO Elon Musk showcased the updated Model Y in a video shared via Tesla’s official account on X Thursday night.

The company aims to revitalize its core automotive business amidst intensifying global competition. Tesla executives are expected to discuss the company’s fourth-quarter performance and year-end results during a conference call on Wednesday after the markets close.

Tesla’s most recent model release, the angular steel Cybertruck, began deliveries at the end of 2023. While it became the best-selling electric truck in the U.S. in 2023, its sales could not offset a decline in Tesla’s overall vehicle deliveries, which fell for the first time in 2024.

Musk, who also leads SpaceX and owns the social media platform X, has been in the spotlight recently due to his significant financial contributions to President Donald Trump’s 2024 campaign and his close ties to the President’s administration.

Following his inauguration on Monday to commence his second term, President Trump signed an executive order suggesting a likely repeal of the federal electric vehicle tax credit. This credit, introduced during the Biden administration as part of the Inflation Reduction Act, has been a key incentive for Tesla. The potential elimination of these credits is expected to impact Tesla less significantly than its competitors in the EV market.

Prior to the launch of the new Model Y variant, Musk’s political involvement, coupled with Tesla’s aging product lineup, contributed to a decline in the company’s reputation, as reported by
