Greenzo to partner France's EODev to launch H2-powered gensets in India
Greenzo Energy India (GEIL) has entered a 20-year partnership with France's EODev to introduce hydrogen fuel cell power generators in India, utilizing Toyota's hydrogen fuel cell technology. This initiative aims to replace fossil-fuel-based generators in facilities like telecom towers and data centers, significantly reducing emissions and investing around ₹200 crore initially.
The companies will enter into a 20-year partnership that will also include provisions for local assembly of EODev products by GEIL as well as be an original equipment manufacturer and strategic partner for the company.
"We are partnering with EODev to bring their Toyota fuel cell power hydrogen generators to South Asia," Sandeep Agarwal, founder and managing director of GEIL told ET, adding that this alliance marks the introduction of Toyota's state-of-the-art hydrogen fuel cell technology in South Asia.
Hydrogen fuel cell generators use the chemical energy in hydrogen to make electricity and water.
They are a zero-emissions alternative to fossil-fuel-based power sources, such as diesel generators which are currently used to run telecom towers , data centres, micropower grids, agriculture operations, and transportation.
"India's hydrogen generator market is around $20 million going forward with facilities like telecom towers, data centres, and microgrids running diesel generators.
Around 80 lakh generators are in the telecom sector alone.
The government wants companies to change these generators with hydrogen generators to reduce emissions," said Agarwal, adding that the companies will invest around ₹200 crore in setting up the facility which will be increased to ₹1,000 crore in two years.

The company has raised around ₹100 million in recent years from companies including Toyota and Accor.
