Mahindra Thar 5-door: Anticipated Launch in 2024
The upcoming Mahindra Thar 5-door, potentially named the Thar Armada, is one of the most anticipated car launches of 2024. Sources indicate that series production has begun at Mahindra's Chakan plant.
Key Highlights:
- Mahindra plans to produce 5,000-6,000 units of the Thar 5-door per month.
- Dealers are already accepting unofficial bookings.
- Higher variants will feature a panoramic sunroof and ADAS Level 2.
Initially, Mahindra aimed to produce around 2,500 units monthly (approximately 30,000 units annually), but due to high demand, this has increased to nearly 5,000-6,000 units per month, potentially reaching an annual production of around 70,000 units.
Thar 5-door Features:
A more practical alternative to the existing 3-door Thar, offering a longer wheelbase, more cabin space, and additional luggage room.
- A wide range of powertrain options: from an entry-level RWD 1.5-litre diesel to a fully loaded 2.2-litre diesel with 4WD. A 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine will also be available.
- Automatic gearbox options for all engines, appealing to urban users.
- Positioned at multiple price points, it is expected to impact the sales of other Mahindra SUVs like the Scorpio Classic, Scorpio N, and XUV700.
Additional Features:
- Multiple airbags and Level 2 ADAS in higher variants.
- Options in infotainment screens, upholstery, LED lighting, alloy wheel design, and sunroofs, with higher variants getting a panoramic unit.
Official bookings are expected to commence in the coming months, with more details to be revealed soon.
