Donald Trump shrugs off global warming worries, says 'that is not our problem' in latest remarks

US Presidential Election 2024: Former US President Donald Trump has dismissed concerns about climate change, claiming that rising sea levels are not a pressing issue. He emphasized the threat of 'nuclear warming' instead. Trump's stance contrasts sharply with the current administration's climate policies and suggests a potential rollback of environmental regulations if he is re-elected.

Former US President Donald Trump has dismissed the global threat of climate change once again.

He claimed that concerns about rising sea levels are exaggerated and argued that the ocean would only "go down 100th of an inch within the next 400 years". Trump made these remarks while campaigning in New York City.

He emphasized that this is not a pressing issue compared to others.

"When people talk about global warming , I say the ocean is going to go down 100th of an inch within the next 400 years.

That’s not our problem," Trump stated.

Trump also highlighted what he sees as the real threat, which he termed " nuclear warming ". He expressed concerns that current leadership is not equipped to handle this issue effectively.

"Our problem is nuclear warming, and we better be smart, and we better have smart people at the top who know how to deal.

Because these people don’t know how to deal," he added.

Gupta, Professor: Department of Finance and Business Economics, University of Delhi View Program Throughout his political career, Trump has consistently dismissed the scientific consensus on global warming, which is largely attributed to the burning of fossil fuels . His recent remarks sharply contrast with the current administration’s climate policies.

Trump's skepticism about climate change is well-documented.

He famously referred to it as a "hoax". During his first term, his administration was characterized by a rollback of environmental regulations in favor of oil and gas drilling.

Trump's relationship with the fossil fuel industry is also well-known.

He has suggested that fossil fuel executives should raise $1 billion for his presidential campaign, promising in return to unleash further oil and gas drilling and cut environmental regulations.

Analysts predict that if Donald Trump wins the upcoming US presidential elections, it could mean the swift dismantling of many of President Joe Biden ’s clean energy rules.

His campaign has suggested that this would be a priority.

One of Trump’s most controversial moves during his first term was pulling the United States out of the Paris Agreement.

This is a global pact aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions and limiting global warming.

Trump argued that the deal was unfair to the US, favoring countries like China and costing American jobs.

In contrast, President Biden, upon taking office, quickly re-entered the US into the agreement.

If re-elected, Trump is set to withdraw the US from the Paris Agreement once again.
